WALKING THE TALK, ASSIGNING VALUABLE RESSOURCES TO BENEFIT A SOCIAL AND ENVIRONNMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE PROJECT
Graphite is a strategic mineral in the fight for reducing greenhouse gases. It is mainly used in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
Nouveau Monde is proud to contribute to this new economy by developing a project as respectful of the environment and the host communities as possible, with the lowest environmental footprint.
NMG is aware that its project belongs to a living environment, a source of people’s identity and home to their history. This awareness is translated into responsibilities over the territory and the communities that occupy it.
These responsibilities call for the technical, economic, environmental and social integration of NMG’s activities in response to the stakeholders interest in achieving a truly sustainable development project.
This is why NMG fully subscribes to the definition of sustainable development, the Sustainable Development Act and its principles, and positions itself as a leader in sustainable development.

SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Considering tomorrow’s needs today is at the heart of our corporate development. In this spirit we multiply actions aimed at promoting the environmental, social and economic benefits of the community.
The potential environmental impacts of the open pit mine and its activities will be evaluated in an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA). This study is mandatory under the Environment Quality Act of Quebec to obtain our decree and any other authorizations necessary for the implementation of the Nouveau Monde Graphite mining project. The ESIA will be made public and will assess the project’s impacts regarding potential nuisances (noise, dust, etc.) on ecosystems (rivers, lakes, groundwater, soils, forests, wildlife, etc.) and the economic benefits derived.
Of course, we want to hear your concerns and put in place projects that cause the least impact and increase regional dynamism.
